NAHN Hispanic Health Policy Summit

February 9-11, 2023 | Washington, D.C. |

Thank You for Joining Us!

Thank you to everyone who attended the first Hispanic Health Policy Summit (HHPS) from February 9-11, 2023 at the Willard Intercontinental in Washington DC! This event successfully combined the strengths of the nation’s leading Latinx focused nursing organization, the National Association for Hispanic Nurses, with other Latinx focused medical professional organizations, across all disciplines, to transform healthcare policy and accelerate the pace of research.

The NAHN HHPS united the Latinx healthcare community to advocate for the health care issues affecting the Hispanic population and proposing potential solutions. National Association of Hispanic Nurses was excited to lead this new joint summit in partnership with other Latinx focused medical associations supporting the needs of the Latinx community.

The first day of this summit focused on education and coaching for the Hill Day meetings. The second day was reserved for participants to attend those Hill Day visits with their local government representatives. The final half-day focused on discussing the results of those conversations.

At the end of this summit attendees were able to:

  • Identify best practices to increase and retain the pipeline of Hispanic health professionals.
  • Define advocacy strategies for increasing access to patient-centered culturally sensitive care.
  • Collaborate across disciplines on healthcare priorities affecting the Hispanic community.
