Despite an 84% decrease in youth smoking since 1996, tobacco still kills nearly half a million Americans and more than 8 million people worldwide each year. Youth e-cigarette use is also a public health crisis with over 2 million young people using e-cigarettes. Policy interventions are needed to stop young people from ever picking up a tobacco products and to help adult users quit.

On April 11, this virtual learning experience was presented by the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids and NAHN to nurses, students and interested medical professionals. Learning areas included: the current tobacco control landscape and policy initiatives to reduce tobacco related health disparities; prevention and cessation resources for the Hispanic community; and perspectives from nursing professionals on why it is important to engage in tobacco control advocacy.
