Beginning in 2014, NAHN established a new award, El Viajero (which means traveler in Spanish). The mission of this yearly award is to recognize the NAHN Chapter with at least 20 members, who have experienced the highest growth, based on both members generation and retention.
This award is an adorned walking stick and represents the expanding importance of NAHN as represented by the growth of its Chapters.
It is NAHN's hope that, at every step and stop, the award winning chapter will add its state emblem and/or chapter logo to decorate the walking stick.
In addition to the physical award, the honored chapter will be spotlighted on the NAHN website for the year as the "Chapter to Watch."
Corina Chick, then National Board Member and Membership Chair, said, “The new Viajero award will be a great source of pride to NAHN, and shows our dedication to the recognition of the chapter with the most growth.”
The first Viajero was awarded on July 18, during the 2014 NAHN Annual Conference Gala in Miami, Florida.
