Massachusetts Chapter

The MASS Chapter of NAHN Pledge
The chapter's mission is aligned with the overall National Association's mission, vision and goals to assure the commitment of recruitment, retention and professional development of Hispanic nurses and quality healthcare to the Hispanic community.  As we grow our newly revised Massachusetts chapter, our goals, in collaboration with the National Association of Hispanic Nurses, are to provide an environment for nurses:

  • to discuss the healthcare needs of the Hispanic community
  • to assess the barriers to the delivery of healthcare services to the Hispanic consumer in collaboration with  academic organizations, community health settings, and local hospitals
  • to identify barriers to quality education for Hispanic nurses and work towards the recruitment and retention of Hispanic nursing students facilitating and promoting necessary support systems to insure success

We pledge to revive a chapter that will steadily address these needs through innovation and creativity. We value the research and position statements published by the Institute of Medicine, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Organization of Nurse Leaders on the Future of Nursing of the need to increase diversity in the profession. We also ask you, the Hispanic Nurse and Nurse Student, to come forward and join us in this needed venture. There is so much to do and there will be opportunity to serve on committees and to assist with small projects that will make our work together meaningful and productive. Western Massachusetts

The Western Massachusetts Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses™ was established in October 2013, during National Hispanic Heritage Month.

The NAHN-WMASS Chapter promotes nursing leadership of Hispanic nurses through healthcare awareness, advocacy, collaboration, and educational advancement. Competent quality healthcare is delivered through community partnerships who pledge to promote health equity within the Hispanic communities in Western Massachusetts.

Our mission is to empower Hispanic nurses to improve the health and well-being of individuals, groups, and communities by the use of action-based, culturally sensitive, evidence based nursing practices.

We welcome membership participation from individuals, community agencies, healthcare organizations, and academic institutions, in the effort to reduce health disparities and improve healthcare outcomes for culturally diverse Hispanic populations.
