2016 NAHN Vote

Candidate for 2016-2019 Board Member:

Francisco Diaz GNP-BC ANP-BC

Relevant NAHN Experience:

I was a reluctant attendee who became an active NAHN member. In my 8 years of membership I am an active board member and have participated in our activities. Also, I work on increasing our association presence via social media. I co-lead the NY Chapter ACA promotion grant resulting in the chapter exceeding the target goal. I wrote a presentation on outreach strategies for ACA. Through NAHN I became certified bilingual health care provider to be a Latino Geriatric Nurse Practitioner who thrive to serve our Hispanic communities better and to encourage Hispanic youth to pursue nursing as a career.

Platform Statement

Having served as Board Member of the New York Chapter of NAHN and co-leading the Affordable Care Act implementation in NY, I believe that this is an exciting time for our organization. NAHN continues to celebrate years of excellence, professional development of nurses, and development of partnerships across the nation, such as CVS Health. Considering these accomplishments, I understand the position of Board of Directors must be as passionate and dedicated as former members have been; but continuing to evolve as the prevailing conditions of health care delivery and population changes. We need to ensure that NAHN rides the wave of health care delivery changes and make nursing indispensable for this. As a NAHN Board member I will be in a position to highlight the work that is being accomplished by all of our chapters. I seek to represent Nursing and our Hispanic communities through the work done by NAHN.
