2016 NAHN Vote

Candidate for 2016-2019 Secretary:

Alana Cueto, MSN, RN, CNL

Relevant NAHN Experience:

Enthusiasm about service to others originally brought me to NAHN as a student nurse looking to volunteer in the community. Over time, I have served in various leadership roles including that of Secretary of NJ NAHN helping to reinvigorate the chapter by overseeing the Events & Planning Committee where we successfully raised scholarship funds. Currently as founding president of the Garden State chapter, I have led our team to recognition throughout the state for their roles in advocacy, education and collaboration. Some of these honors include the NJSNA Diversity Award, ADA Mission Volunteer Award, and Institute for Nursing "EPIC" Award.

Platform Statement

In 2015, I was honored with the Seton Hall University Alumni Award, and designated by the NJ Hispanic Leadership Association to receive a Special Congressional Recognition and a Joint Legislative Award for serving as a Health Care Advocate and Nurse Leader in our state embodying the NAHN mission of contributing to the improvement of the health of the Hispanic population and the promotion of the nursing profession. Serving as president and chapter leader has allowed me to understand the nuances of leading a fledgling chapter while mentoring, supporting, and guiding our team members. Cultivating a culture of health by way of volunteerism has been the cornerstone of the NAHN mission and forging relationships by way of cross-collaboration is my personal pledge to our NAHN 'familia'.
