Nominate an Exceptional Nurse for the 2015 NAHN Nurse of the Year Award

Washington, DC (July 17, 2015) — The NAHN National Association of Hispanic Nurses® is delighted to invite you to nominate a NAHN member as the 2015 NAHN Nurse of the Year Award.

The NAHN Nurse of the Year Award is for a nurse, who is a member of the NAHN National Association of Hispanic Nurses®, who has developed a creative and innovative program, intervention, or strategy in one of the following areas:

  • Improvement in the quality of health care in the Hispanic community (narrowing health care disparity).
  • Recruitment, retention, professional career development (increasing the number of Hispanic nurses at all educational and professional levels).
  • Development of NAHN at local, state, and/or the national level (growth, effectiveness, and communication within NAHN organizations, and with the community it serves).

The evaluative criteria includes contributions to improving the health care of the Hispanic community across the life span, birth to end-of-life, in any health care environment through:

  • Innovation - created a better service, product or idea for NAHN or provided innovation in other healthcare/organizational arenas, or both.
  • Creativity - used creative techniques to advance NAHN, provided creative techniques in advancing other healthcare/organizational arenas, or both.
  • Leadership – demonstrated leadership in NAHN, leadership in other arenas that affected local or national healthcare, or both.
  • Advocacy - advocated for the Hispanic community at a local level, at the national level, or both.

Specific Nomination Requirements: (Application will not be considered if the requirements are not met.)

  1. Must be an active member of NAHN for a minimum of three (3) years. NEW this year-reduced from 5 years!
  2. Submit the following:
    • A letter by a NAHN member nominating the individual or self-nomination, which includes a written description of the program, intervention, or strategy and addresses the criteria.
    • Two additional letters of recommendation addressing how the candidates meets the criteria.
    • An updated and current curriculum vitae which clearly demonstrate achievements for the past three (3) years. Please summarize your accomplishments in no more than five (5) pages. Failure to do so will lose you points.

The Nurse of the Year Award will be presented in Washington, DC in October during Hispanic Heritage month.

Please e-mail the completed award nomination and documentation to info@thehispanicnurses.org. Incomplete nominations will not be considered.

Please include “ATTN: NAHN Awards & Scholarship Committee” in the Subject line.

ALL NOMINATIONS FOR THE AWARD MUST BE RECEIVED BY
Friday, September 4, 2015, 5:00pm EDT - NO EXCEPTIONS.
