Nominate an Exceptional Nurse for
the 2013 NAHN Nurse of the Year Award

Washington, DC (August 14, 2013) — The NAHN National Association of Hispanic Nurses® is delighted to invite you to nominate a NAHN member as the 2013 NAHN Nurse of the Year Award.

The NAHN Nurse of the Year Award is for a nurse, who is a member of the NAHN National Association of Hispanic Nurses®, who has developed a creative and innovative program, intervention, or strategy in one of the following areas:

  • Improving the quality of health care in the Hispanic community (narrowing health care disparity).
  • Recruitment, retention, professional career development (increasing the number of Hispanic nurses at all educational and professional levels).
  • NAHN organizational development at local, state, and/or the national level (growth, effectiveness, and communication within NAHN organizations, and with the community it serves).

The evaluative criteria are as follows:

  • Contribution to improving the health care of the Hispanic community across the life span, birth to end-of-life, in any health care environment.
  • Innovation
  • Creativity
  • Leadership
  • Advocacy

Specific Nomination Requirements:

  • Must be an active member of NAHN for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • Submit the following:
    • A letter by a NAHN member nominating the individual or self-nomination, which includes a written description of the program, intervention, or strategy.
    • Two additional letters of recommendation.
    • An updated and current curriculum vitae which clearly demonstrate achievements for the past five (5) years.
      Please summarize your accomplishments in no more than five (5) pages.
    • Complete these forms.

The Nurse of the Year Award will be presented in Washington, DC in October during Hispanic Heritage month.

Please e-mail the completed award nomination and documentation to Incomplete nominations will not be considered.

Please include “ATTN: NAHN Awards & Scholarship Committee” in the Subject line.
