Washington, DC (April 6, 2012) — Phoenix-based Grand Canyon University (GCU) has joined the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) as the organization's newest corporate member.
GCU is dedicated to promoting and advocating educational, professional and leadership opportunities for Hispanic nurses, and this partnership will enable the University to work closely with and offer expertise to other members.
“We have a diverse body of faculty, staff, students and alumni at Grand Canyon University, so this partnership felt like a natural fit for us,” said Dr. Anne McNamara, dean of GCU’s College of Nursing. “Living and working in an area with a large Hispanic population, we very much recognize the need to support and promote opportunities for Hispanic nurses.”
As a corporate member, GCU representatives will have an opportunity to build strong relationships with others in the industry, as well as host webinars to promote the sharing of information and ideas among NAHN members.
“The National Association of Hispanic Nurses has taken great responsibility to meet the call for action for the Future of Nursing. One specific recommendation is to ensure that nurses engage in lifelong learning. This is why I believe that partnering with Grand Canyon University makes sense, as it will provide our members with equal access to further their educational goals,” said Angie Millan, MSN, RNP, CNS, FAAN, president of NAHN.
