NAHN National Association of Hispanic Nurses® is a non-profit professional association committed to the promotion of the professionalism and dedication of Hispanic nurses by providing equal access to educational, professional, and economic opportunities for Hispanic nurses.
NAHN is also dedicated to the improvement of the quality of health and nursing care of Hispanic consumers.

2011 NAHN Nurse of the Year: Mirian Zavala, MS, RN, DNS(c)
Mirian Zavala, is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Pace University in New York and a nurse for over 20 years.
A NAHN member since 2003, she distinguished herself from the highly competitive pool of applicants for this year's award with her involvement and leadership with the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA), and the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives (AHHE).
Ms. Zavala is currently the chair of NAHN's Development Committee,and a mentor of NAHN's Mentorship Academy.
She has been the author of the "Health Policy and Legislation" policy column for the NAHN newsletter, NAHN at a Glance, since 2008.
She is also the president of Delta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Nursing Society, and chair of the AHHE Policy Committee. Mirian is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Champion Nursing-Institute of Medicine: Future of Nursing Coalition.
